So that’s it for another year on the PGA Tour, with the final FedEx Cup standings now set in stone.
Numerous PGA Tour players were trying to force their way inside the top-100 on the FedEx Cup points list at the RSM Classic in Sea Island, Georgia, this week.
Interestingly, not a single player who began the week outside the top-100 managed to jump inside the magic number.
It’s much harder for players to retain fully exempt status for 2026 than it was last year.
Justin Lower blasted the PGA Tour for making the change, after he missed out on the top-100 in the FedEx Cup standings.
However, another player who missed out on full playing privileges for 2026 seemed to be far more accepting of his fate.
PGA Tour winner misses out on the FedEx Cup top-100
Lee Hodges, the winner of the 3M Open in 2023, has endured a really difficult season in 2025.
Do you think the PGA Tour reducing the amount of cards for 2026 to 100 is a good thing?
The 30-year-old went down fighting on Sunday at the RSM Classic, after shooting a final round 66 to finish in a tie for fourth in the final PGA Tour event of the season.
However, that wasn’t quite enough, as he finished in 101st position on the FedEx Cup points list.
Hodges has no sympathy for those who miss out on the FedEx Cup top 100, he admitted that after his third round at the magnificent Sea Island complex on Saturday.
Now, he faces the prospect of losing his fully exempt status for 2026.
However, due to the fact that he finished in 101st place in the standings, he will have conditional status, and could be handed around 15 PGA Tour starts next season.

He also has a medical exemption, with four extra starts guaranteed in 2026, after he broke his ribs and missed seven tournaments in 2025.
So the good news is that the one-time PGA Tour winner does have some kind of job security for another year at least.
Lee Hodges reveals agents’ message after FedEx Cup failure
Hodges spoke to reporters after his final round on Sunday, and opened up on what his agents have explained to him concerning his 101st place finish on the FedEx Cup points list.
He said: “I have no idea, I have no idea. I mean, my agents have been telling me if you finish inside the top 111, you’re going to really like where you are.
“So 101 I guess is all right after the s––t year — sorry, after the bad year I had this year. So yeah, it is what it is.“
So it seems like Hodges will be just fine in 2026.
However, he may well face a bleak future unless he seriously raises his levels on the PGA Tour next season.
This week at the RSM Classic would have given Hodges plenty of confidence ahead of 2026, though.
The one-time PGA Tour winner proved he has what it takes to produce under the most intense pressure and that will serve him well moving forward, despite the disappointment of missing out on the FedEx Cup top-100.
