Patrick Reed is doing a phenomenal job of making sure that he is not forgotten about despite the fact that he will spend the majority of the season not playing on either the PGA Tour or LIV Golf.
There is no question that Patrick Reed is determined to make his mark on the DP World Tour this season.
Patrick Reed is now the THIRD BEST golfer in the world, discuss…
Aside from Scottie and Rory, who's better than Reed right now?
Of course, it was following his win at the Dubai Desert Classic that Reed revealed that he had not yet signed a contract with LIV Golf for 2026.
LIV thought Reed would still sign. However, the American subsequently confirmed that he had left the league and would spend the majority of the season on the DP World Tour while he serves a one year suspension from the PGA Tour.
The PGA Tour have been urged to bring Patrick Reed back before his suspension ends
That suspension ends in August. Reed was already set to play in 2027 as a past champion. However, his victory at the Qatar Masters this past week has all but ensured that the 35-year-old will pick up one of the 10 full cards on the PGA Tour through the DP World Tour.
But some want him back sooner given that he has already won twice in 2026.

Speaking on the Golf Channel Podcast about the prospect of Reed returning before his suspension ends, Ryan Lavner suggested that the PGA Tour would be wise to capitalise on his current momentum.
“I love this idea because if we’re already rewriting the rules with this Returning Member Program, here’s another rule that they should write in: a battlefield promotion on the DP World Tour,” he said.
“If you win three times, you should automatically jump to the PGA Tour. They already do it for the Korn Ferry Tour. You do have the strategic alliance, expedite Patrick Reed to the PGA Tour if he wins one more time.”
The first PGA Tour event Patrick Reed is currently set to play
It would be a big loss to the European circuit if an opportunity opens up to Reed and he decides to head back to the PGA Tour.
He has immediately elevated some of the events on the DP World Tour that do not have the same prestige as those within the Rolex Series.
Should Patrick Reed be allowed to play at The Players Championship in March?
He is now inside the top 20 in the world rankings…
As things stand, it appears that his first appearance in an event at least partially run by the PGA Tour will come at the Scottish Open in July.
Reed looks set to qualify for The Players Championship in March given that he is now inside the top 20 in the world rankings.
However, his suspension will deny him the chance to tee it up at TPC Sawgrass – unless the PGA Tour do decide to introduce a new rule that opens the door.
On current evidence, they would be foolish not to consider it.
