Golf is hard, even for the players out there on the PGA Tour, the sport remains brutal at times and it’s already been having its way with a few players at The Genesis Invitational.

With Torrey Pines playing host to the event this year, the weather has very much been a factor, with strong winds and heavy rain adding to the already treacherous rough in play.

Of course, round one saw the PGA Tour criticised for allowing preferred lies and in the end, it proved a good decision with the best scoring player at four under in Denny McCarthy.

However, for every player scrambling and doing well, there are those struggling and that’s exactly where Adam Hadwin found himself.

Hadwin carded a memorably bad 11-under par to prop up the leaderboard. And even more concerning for him, was his own wife took her chance to mock him on social media.

Adam Hadwin’s wife mocks him after shocking opening round at The Genesis

Anyone who follows golf on social media knows that Hadwin and his wife very much have plenty of banter and back and forth, often centred around Mr Hadwin’s golf game.

And over on X, after seeing him struggle at Torrey Pines, wife Jessica was straight into her husband’s poor performance.

Remarkably, there were some fans out there who were taking things all a bit too seriously and believing she was kicking him while he was down.

However, Jessica continued her sarcastic assault, and twice more, first mocking him for finding a fairway, and then posting a gif to show her potential reaction to Hadwin after his round.

The worst rounds in PGA Tour history

While Adam Hadwin had a stinker at the Genesis in the opening round, he fell short of being among the worst scorecards ever submitted.

Unfortunately, that honour goes to Mike Reasor, who in 1974, had had to record two rounds of 123 and 114 at the Tallahassee Open. Injuries dictated those scores in fairness to Reasor, who battled through after making the cut to play one handed.

Another notably poor round is that of Billy Casper, who won the Masters in 1970 before giving the tournament a go in 2005. He carded a shocking 106 though, and instead of submitting his score, refused to sign the card so his score didn’t officially exist.

Hadwin, it seems, has little to worry about then…apart from some cheeky comments from his wife that is!
