A PGA Tour professional has suggested qualifying for the Open could completely scupper his upcoming YouTube plans.
The social media space has become prominent in modern-day golf after Bryson DeChambeau’s recent emergence.
The American’s YouTube channel has been growing steadily since his dramatic US Open victory at Pinehurst No.2.
Elsewhere, the likes of Peter Finch, Grant Horvat and Rick Shiels produce regular content that attracts a large audience.
Wesley Bryan says Open qualification could scupper his plans

Wesley Bryan and his brother George currently have a YouTube channel with over 382,000 subscribers.
Bryan regularly competes on the PGA Tour and will play in this week’s John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run.
A positive outing could land him a spot in the upcoming Open, something which could potentially scupper his YouTube schedule.
“I pretty much have a set schedule over the next five weeks,” he told the Golf Channel.
“If I get the Open, great. I still have a lot of YouTube stuff that we need to pull off, and I’ll be honest: if I do end up getting in, it could throw a wrench into some spokes of other things I want to do on the YouTube side. If I get in, great. I guess we will just cross that bridge if it comes.”
Bryan also delivered his response when asked if he would do YouTube at The Open.
“I don’t know,” he added. “We’d have to get the whole squad over there. We’ll see. Probably. Maybe not, though. It’s hard to say. I am taking it day by day and seeing how things go and what way the wind takes me.
“Right now, a lot of my focus is on the YouTube side. I’ve really enjoyed it. Getting to hang out with my brother and some of my best buds and acting like an idiot on the golf course is kind of my happy place.
“Like a lot of guys out here, but the vast majority aren’t willing to have as much fun as I want to have. I’m getting a little older and have a lot of kids, and being at home has little value to me at this point.”
Wesley Bryan’s 2024 PGA Tour record
2024 hasn’t been overly kind to Bryan thus far.
The YouTube star has missed five cuts and only placed in the top ten once, coming during the Corales Puntacana Championship.
More recently, the 34-year-old finished T67 in the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club in Michigan.
Currently 139th in the FedEx Cup rankings, Bryan needs a minor miracle to place himself in contention ahead of the season-ending playoffs, which get underway in six weeks.
Clearly, the American isn’t overly fussed with how he gets at this week’s John Deere Classic, with several YouTube commitments clearly at the forefront of his mind.
