The Farmers Insurance Open is in the books for another year but the event has not exactly captured the imaginations of the golfing world.

Harris English ended up holding off Andrew Novak and Sam Stevens for the win in what ended up being an entertaining finish all things considered.

After 18 players withdrew from the Farmers and the three best players in the world were all not involved, the tournament could have really flopped.

In the end, while the star names were not involved, the actual golf on display was good and for those who did tune in, it was a tight finish with some big putts made.

However, not everyone seemed happy and that’s caused third placed Andrew Novak to come out swinging on social media.

With the tournament failing to capture the imagination of golf fans in the main, it was an open goal really for the PGA Tour to be shot at.

Indeed, golf journalist Kyle Porter did just that, as he took to social media to complain about the problems the TOUR has in maintaining viewership.

However, in doing so, he name-checked both Novak and runner-up Sam Stevens, leading to Novak clapping back at Porter.

Clearly, Novak has taken it in good jest but there’s also an element of disrespect in the initial post, which has obviously rubbed Novak up the wrong way a tad.

Golf fans complain about PGA Tour’s coverage of the Farmers Insurance Open

It’s been a bit of a problem this week for the PGA Tour in trying to get the Farmers played and for people to watch it.

However, they did score a bit of an own goal themselves as well.

Golf fans slammed the PGA Tour for not focussing more on Wesley Bryan as he was in contention going into the back nine, and that point is a very valid one indeed.

While the TOUR can do little about players being injured and then pulling out of events, they can make the experience as good as possible for those still playing and those fans tuning in to watch.

With Pebble Beach next up, the powers that be will be hoping for a much smoother ride and the help of some star power to get them back in the good books.
