Stewart Cink has enjoyed a superb golfing career, having joined the PGA Tour all the way back in 1997.

But it hasn’t been the American’s best year on the PGA Tour, with Cink having made just seven of 14 cuts, with no top-10 finishes.

The PGA Tour is now in its final stages, with the top 30 players set to take on the Tour Championship at East Lake.

But the eight-time PGA Tour champion knows all about being among the leading players, having risen to fifth place in the world rankings in 2008.

Winner of The Open in 2009, the 51-year-old currently occupies 290th place in the rankings, but is among an exclusive list in golf.

Michael Kim cannot believe Stewart Cink’s PGA Tour milestone

Cink co-led the way at the halfway stage of the Valspar Championship in March, and while he ended up T33, he did reach a superb milestone.

The American made the cut for the 500th time in his PGA Tour career, with that feat blowing away Michael Kim, who is 151st in the rankings.

He wrote on X: “When I was younger, I used to only look up to the guys on tour that won a lot. Tiger [Woods], Phil [Mickelson], Vijay [Singh]… But the longer I do this the more I appreciate guys who have had super long careers. Stew Cink for ex. He’s made 500 CUTS! That sounds like an impossible stat to me.

“BTW, all these older guys that are playing well on the champions tour, still grind like they are rookies. Steve Stricker hits wedges for hours, prob hitting wedges right now. Vijay still grinds like crazy. Stuart Appleby still grinds on the range.”

Stewart Cink on exclusive PGA Tour list

Cink is certainly well respected within the world of golf, with the American earning the Payne Stewart Award in 2017.

He has achieved huge success in his career, although at 51 he will still be eyeing further silverware in the years to come.

But it has been a roller-coaster year so far, with Cink simply unable to find any sort of consistency on the course, although he has just tasted PGA Tour Champions success at the Ally Challenge.

He started the year T24 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, his only top-25 of 2024, with the American missing the cut at The Open last month.

But he will still go down as one of the game’s top players, with not many others able to boast his amazing record regarding making cuts.

As per Sports Illustrated, Cink became the eighth player to make 500 PGA Tour cuts, with Jay Haas (592) and Tom Kite (590) leading the way.
