It’s official. Team USA will be paid to play in the Ryder Cup in 2025 as the PGA of America finally confirmed ongoing rumours.
Ever since initial reports suggested Team USA would each get $400,000 to play, the topic has been a big conversation starter in the golfing world.
Over in Europe, the decision has not gone down well, with fans praising Rory McIlroy for his stance on the matter and players like Shane Lowry admitting they’d no interest in being paid to play.
Now, though, the news has been confirmed as official and after the initial reports of $400,000, it looks like the Team USA players will get even more.

How much each player on Team USA will get for playing in the Ryder Cup
Taking to X to share a statement from the PGA of America, golf writer and commentator Rex Hoggard has shared the news with the world.
It’s confirmed that players will each get $500,000. Crucially, the devil is in the detail and only $300,000 of that money will have to go to charitable causes.
The other $200,000 is being labelled as a ‘stipend’, which means players can effectively do as they please with it.
Will Team USA follow Tiger Woods’ advice with Ryder Cup payments?
The topic of money in the game is becoming tiresome really. Ever since the arrival of LIV Golf, it seems all we speak about is money.
With the Ryder Cup, it seems outrageous that players are going to be given a chance to effectively keep some of the money on offer when those competing will already be millionaires.
Tiger Woods has recently told players to give whatever money they get to charity but with the option now there to essentially split things 60/40, it will be interesting to see what the players do.
In the main, it just feels like unnecessary bad press for the Team USA players and you can almost guarantee the players will be asked what they’ve done with the money during tournament week.
