There is no question that Adam Scott has had an unbelievable career.

Adam Scott has won the Masters, while he spent the best part of three months as world number one back in 2014. The 44-year-old’s longevity arguably does not get spoken about enough, with the Australian finishing in the top 10 in four of his final five starts on the PGA Tour in 2024.

Scott would make history at the Presidents Cup this year as he became the International team’s all-time leading points scorer at Royal Montreal. And it would be no surprise to see Scott close the gap on Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson before he calls time on his career.

But of course, for many, there is one part of Scott’s game which stands out. In fact, plenty of golf fans would immediately think of Scott when asked one particular question: who boasts the best looking swing in the game?

What many think about Adam Scott which Peter Finch disagrees

Most could probably watch Scott swing the golf club all day. However, speaking on The Rough Cut Golf Podcast, Peter Finch suggested that he would opt for Scottie Scheffler as the player with the best swing, before admitting that he is not as besotted with Scott’s swing as most seem to be.

“I’d go Scottie, because he’s literally the best ball-striker in the world. You can’t really argue with that. Yeah, it looks like he’s on acid when he’s swinging, even at the top he’s a bit rogue as well,” he said.

“It’s like Adam Scott, everyone gets rather excited over Adam Scott’s swing, and it is a good swing, but I’ve never been like, ‘that is the best swing ever’.”

What Butch Harmon once said about Scott’s golf swing

It may perhaps be the most controversial statement Peter Finch has ever made. For many, Scott is arguably the blueprint for what a desirable swing looks like – and it seems, to the untrained eye, to have barely changed a fraction since he emerged on tour.

Interestingly, Scott is in great company. Butch Harmon previously said that Scott was the one player he worked with who could swing the golf club like Tiger Woods.

Obviously, Finch is not criticising Scott’s swing in the slightest. Perhaps it is also fair to say that Scott should have achieved more given the talent he clearly has. Few probably would have imagined when his career began that he would go into 2025 having only won one major.

Having said that, he is surely going to be one of those players golf fans talk about for a long time after his career has come to an end – largely because of the way he swung the golf club.
