The 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black is now less than two months away, and the excitement is building.

The biggest event on the golfing calendar between Europe and the United States has even more storylines than usual.

Can Europe win away from home for the first time since the Miracle at Medinah (2012)? How will Keegan Bradley manage playing and captaining?

Another key question is whether Scottie Scheffler’s PGA Tour dominance will transfer to the Ryder Cup, or will Rory McIlroy be the man to beat?

YouTube golfer Peter Finch has predicted who will win if McIlroy and Scheffler face off in the Sunday singles at Bethpage.

Peter Finch makes Rory McIlroy vs Scottie Scheffler prediction

Previewing the Ryder Cup in September, Finch looked at 12 potential singles match-ups at Bethpage and predicted the winners.

It’s worth noting that he selected the top 12 on the European and United States qualification standings, so there are some notable absentees, such as Jon Rahm.

Here are Finch’s picks for every match, including McIlroy beating Scheffler in what would be an amazing spectacle at Bethpage.

Rory McIlroy’s and Scottie Scheffler’s Ryder Cup records

McIlroy’s Ryder Cup resume is far more accomplished than Scheffler’s. The Northern Irishman has represented Europe seven times and won five.

In the two events where they both played, the US won 19-9 at Whistling Straits in 2021 and Europe won 16.6-11.5 at Marco Simone in 2023.

Despite being part of so many winning teams, McIlroy’s Ryder Cup record actually wasn’t very impressive until two years ago, when he won four points from five matches in Rome.

Scheffler’s record remains underwhelming, and perhaps the only blemish on his fantastic career, so he will be determined to perform better in September.
