With so many top names in The Masters this year, it’s a hard task to pick not only a winner but also those who people might not be picking up on as much.

Augusta National will play host to the best field the world of golf has to offer as players from the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, LIV Golf and even the Champions Tour, come together to decide who’ll take home the coveted green jacket.

With the big names like Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau getting plenty of attention, there’s also reason to look elsewhere given the quality on display.

Indeed, according to popular YouTube star Peter Finch, there’s one player from the LIV Golf side of things who he considers an ‘outsider’ to actually win.

Peter Finch names his outsider to win The Masters

With so many predictions coming in ahead of The Masters, it can be hard to keep up with who has said what.

However, speaking on his latest podcast episode, The Rough Cut, Peter Finch has suggested that former Masters winner and LIV Golf star, Sergio Garcia, is a great outside bet to win.

“Sergio has had a good year on LIV,” Finch said. “He is obviously a past champion there. The way he is swinging and the way he is hitting it is a bit like prime Sergio at the moment.

“He has the game and the swing which has always been powerful but is not a game which is built on power. He has had his putting problems but his ball striking is unreal.

“So for an outsider I would go with Sergio.”

Garcia has been in fine form recently and finished third in the recent LIV Miami event, while he also won in Hong Kong a few weeks back.

Sergio Garcia’s Masters record

Despite winning the event in 2017, a quick glance at the stats tells you that Sergio Garcia has not always been a success at Augusta National.

In fact, since winning in 17, he’s missed the cut on five of six efforts, with his only finish outside the cut in that time being a T23 in 2022.

Prior to that, Garcia has a T4 and two finishes of T8 to his name as his best efforts since making his debut at the course in 1999.

With good form for this year, Garcia will be hoping to break that cut hoodoo and put himself in contention at the very least going into the weekend.
