Rory McIlroy suffered yet another heartbreak this season after losing in a play-off at the BMW PGA Championship.
McIlroy only just finished second at the Irish Open, and suffered the same fate at the US Open at Pinehurst earlier this year.
This time around it was Billy Horschel who got the better of McIlroy at the BMW PGA Championship, with the former beating the latter in the second play-off hole.
Horschel is the first American to win the BMW PGA Championship twice, having also won at Wentworth on the DP World Tour in 2021.
He was delighted with the superb victory, but Horschel was disappointed to beat his friend McIlroy in a play-off.

Paul McGinley reacts as Rory McIlroy loses BMW PGA Championship play-off
It certainly wasn’t a case of McIlroy playing badly at Wentworth, but of Horschel playing superbly to win the title.
Paul McGinley has now shares his thoughts on the Northern Irishman following another heartache, writing on X: “Congrats to Billy Ho on a brilliant win that was full of heart & guile.

“Rory had an inspired opponent, his game now more rounded than ever as he didn’t play at a level we know he can yet still produced. Lastly the DPWT & BMW again produce a tournament of the highest quality.”
Can Rory McIlroy finally end his misery?
McIlroy can be proud of his efforts, but deep down it will be hurting the world number three the longer his pain continues.
An elusive fifth major still hasn’t gone his way, but that season is done and dusted, with the Northern Irishman simply wanting to lift silverware once more.
Rasmus Hojgaard beat the home favourite at Royal County Down last week by just one shot, with Horschel then overcoming McIlroy by a single putt at Wentworth.
Both players birdied their first attempt on the 18th as Thriston Lawrence dropped out, before the American sinked an eagle putt to take all the glory.
The pressure was certainly on Horschel after McIlroy birdied the hole, but Horschel remained calm to win the BMW PGA Championship for a second time.
