Talor Gooch has caused quite the stir with some comments on Rory McIlroy and an apparent asterisk being needed if he wins The Masters this year.
McIlroy is going into Augusta finally looking to complete the Grand Slam in golf and there is the usual pressure building ahead of the event.
McIlroy has been a vocal advocate for the PGA Tour ever since LIV arrived on the scene but his stance does seem to be softening somewhat. However, Gooch – who is one of the top performers in LIV – seems to have called McIlroy and the PGA Tour out this week, believing this period of Masters tournaments won’t hold the same value as in previous years.
However, Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee has waded in on the comments from Gooch, and suggested it sums up how the LIV players are going about their business right now.

Brandel Chamblee slams LIV players and references Talor Gooch comments
The respected Chamblee was responding to a question from someone on social media who referenced how LIV players constantly wear the LIV apparel branded with logos on.
And Chamblee used it as his chance to take aim at the PIF-backed tour, and referenced Gooch and McIlroy in doing so.
“Yes LIV players seem oblivious to their mirror accusations. See Gooch’s quotes about McIlory’s possible grand slam, that was chock-full of ironical humour given what his comments said about his LIV wins and his argument for world ranking points. LIV players lost their autonomy (and world ranking points) when they sold out to the Saudis (MBS). They have to say what they are told, play where they are told and do what they are told. MBS and his thugs, murder, jail and intimidate dissenters and are amongst the worst oppressors of women on earth and still the world of finance opens its doors to these medieval men. But finance is mostly about the bottom line, whereas sport has inherit values of delayed gratification and discipline that are meant to develop character and should be about far more than the bottom line,” Chamblee said.
LIV and PGA rift is no good for anyone anymore
Sooner or later this whole mess needs sorting out and for good. Right now, we’ve got the likes of Gooch and others taking aim at the PGA and the majors, while we’ve got PGA players calling out LIV on a regular basis too.
At the moment, it’s becoming a bit tiresome and while it is newsworthy in itself, even the media will end up fed up of covering the same old arguments.
LIV and PGA co-existing can work somehow, and the powers that be need to find that way. And soon.
