Nelly Korda says she is a ‘huge fan’ of PGA Tour player Denny McCarthy
Despite ultimately falling short, former world number one Korda and McCarthy were delighted with their partnership.
When asked to discuss their rise up the leaderboard on Sunday, McCarthy said: “I’ll start. I think right now we’re both a little frustrated just because we’re both very competitive and like to win.
“We know we probably left some shots out there. But playing with her is always a treat. I like her caddie a lot, Jay (Jason McDede). He’s great.
“My caddie gets along with him great. Just so much fun being out there with them and competing. Her game is phenomenal.
“I learned a lot three years ago, I continue to learn a lot from her playing with her the last three days. We just had a lot of fun.”
Which four players do you choose?
And Korda added: “Yeah, same for us, same for me. I mean, Jay and I have so much fun with Denny and Derek [Smith].
“It was so nice to kind of get the band back together and team up again. But I have so much respect for Denny and his game.
“I became a huge fan three years ago. Jay and I follow him. I know Jay’s been out to watch him at a couple events, too.
“Yeah, this week is so special in growing the game, but also creating great relationships. And I’m a lifelong fan. And same as Denny said, you learn so much from each other and hopefully that continues to build.”
