After nearly a month off from competition, Nelly Korda looked set to make her LPGA return at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea later this week.

It has obviously been an incredible year for Nelly Korda, with her second major title coming during a run of six victories in seven starts earlier this season. The world number one also led USA to victory at the Solheim Cup at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in September.

Korda last played at the Kroger Queen City Championship in Ohio. On that occasion, the 26-year-old finished in a tie for fifth as Lydia Ko continued her amazing comeback in recent times with another win.

Korda is certainly in a strong position in the Race to CME Globe standings, with Ko around 1,200 points adrift in second place. But it seems that that gap is going to close over the next couple of weeks.

Nelly Korda issues an apology ahead of the BMW Ladies Championship

Korda had been scheduled to feature at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea this week, as well as the Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur straight after. However, writing on X, the American has now confirmed that she will miss the events due to a minor injury.

She also apologised to her fans for the news…

The event the world number one will have her sights set on

Korda’s sights may well largely be on the CME Group Tour Championship in November. You would imagine that she will have already wrapped up the Player of the Year title on the LPGA given what she achieved at the start of the year.

But the Tour Championship is one tournament she is yet to win in her already-remarkable career.

The good news is that she has won The ANNIKA on two of the four occasions the event has been played, so that should provide her with a really good chance to build her confidence ahead of the season finale the following week.

And that has arguably become much more important now that she is set to sit out at least two of the tournaments which remained on her schedule.
