Max Homa was able to end a frustrating season on something of a high as he registered a top 10 finish at the Bank of Utah Championship in trying circumstances at the Black Desert Resort.

It has been an extremely difficult 18 months for Max Homa on the course. Since Homa’s challenge at the 2024 Masters ended with an awful bounce on the 12th hole during the final round, he has really struggled to kick on.

After the agony at Augusta National, Homa only managed to register one more top 10 on the PGA Tour last year. Unfortunately, it has been a similar story this season, with his ninth place finish at the Bank of Utah Championship proving to be his second best result of the year.

Homa was dealing with an ankle injury this past week. Nevertheless, he will be disappointed that he was unable to post a really low round across the week, as he finished seven shots back of Michael Brennan.

He did, however, insist that there are positives to be taken heading into 2026.

He wrote: “2025 season is a wrap for me. Disappointing season. It’s not a true failure if u learn something from it, and boy did I learn a lot this year. Looking forward to getting to work and making ‘26 my female dog. Huge thx to Utah and all the fans for showing out this week and making my last event of the year a fun one!

The reason Max Homa can feel optimistic heading into 2026

It has definitely been a positive Fall season for Homa. He registered three top 20 finishes in four starts.

It does appear that his biggest problem is putting four strong rounds together. You would have to go back to the Rocket Classic in June for the last tournament in which Homa failed to produce a round of 67 or better.

He shot a 63 in the opening round at the John Deere Classic, while there was a 64 on Saturday at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

He shot two rounds of 66 in Utah. But clearly, putting it all together is extremely difficult, even for some of the very best players on the planet.

Homa is someone with six career wins on the PGA Tour. It should also not be forgotten that Homa was USA’s leading points scorer during the 2023 Ryder Cup.

There is good reason to think that it is all going to click back into place in the not so distant future.
