Matt Fitzpatrick is in contention to win the Genesis Invitational over the weekend after rounds of 69 and 66 on Thursday and Friday.
Fitzpatrick has shown some decent form on the PGA Tour so far this season, with two top-15 finishes in three starts.
The Englishman will be looking to contend at the very least this week at the Genesis Invitational.
Who will retire with more majors? 🏆
Fitzpatrick turned things around five months ago after a really poor run of form, and managed to qualify for the European Ryder Cup team in September before winning the DP World Tour Championship in November.
The 31-year-old is an incredibly solid player, but he’ll now be keen to start winning more regularly in his 30s than he did in his 20s.
However, if he does end up winning at Riviera this week, he will most likely have got the hang of one hole which he believes is simply ‘unfair’.
Matt Fitzpatrick frustrated by ‘unfair hole’ at Riviera
Fitzpatrick was going along swimmingly until he reached the 10th hole on Friday.
He was four-under-par for the front nine before he pushed his tee-shot out to the right on the driveable par-four.
Fitzpatrick then left his approach in the bunker short of the green, before finding a bunker on the other side of the green with his third.
The Englishman then got up and down for a five.
It was put to Fitzpatrick that his five on 10 was actually a good bogey in the end.

“It was a great bogey. I got on the 11th tee and I said, ‘great bogeys guys’, and got a little laugh, so that was good,“ Fitzpatrick replied.
“I don’t know about crying on each other’s shoulders but I just think it’s an unfair golf hole, so I’ll just leave it at that.“
Interestingly, Fitzpatrick birdied the 10th during his first round and he didn’t mention the hole after his round.
Make of that what you will.
10th hole at Riviera is actually an incredible design
As a fan, I find the 10th to be compelling viewing.
Are you concerned about Scottie Scheffler right now?
He is really struggling with his first rounds right now…
It is the ultimate risk-reward golf hole. At just 300 yards, it is easily reachable for 99 per cent of the field.
However, if you miss the green on the wrong side, you have a really difficult task of making a four.
Fitzpatrick may not like the 10th hole at Riviera but in my opinion, it was brilliantly designed.
If Matt Fitzpatrick is going to win the Genesis Invitational this week, he will probably need to master the 10th hole on Saturday and Sunday.
