Scottie Scheffler will be the red-hot favourite to win a third green jacket once the 2025 Masters Tournament starts at Augusta National at the start of April.
Scheffler’s 2024 performance was a cut above, and the world number one’s dominance led to a fairly dull finale at the year’s first major.
Despite appearing well-suited to Augusta National‘s layout, Scheffler respects the course and acknowledges just how challenging the test can be.
Only three players in Masters history have won back-to-back green jackets: Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Nick Faldo.
Right now, there’s little reason to suggest why Scheffler won’t become the fourth. Mark Immelman, however, disagrees.
Mark Immelman makes shock Scottie Scheffler Masters claim

Immelman, speaking on his latest podcast, believes Scheffler will win at Augusta again, just not in 2025.
“I will give you this. Three folks have won the Masters twice in a row. Jack, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods,” he said.
“I don’t think Scottie, despite the way he is playing right now, wins two in a row. I think he might knock off three in six years, but it’s amazing this place how storylines abound, and a player figures it out, but all of a sudden, you miss a few putts, and that just adds to the hysteria and the history of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters.”
The South African then went on to back Rory McIlroy to win his first green jacket in April.
He added: “To that, I think in the season of joy and the season of giving, it’s Festive season now; I am going to be full of hope when I tell you that Rory McIlroy is going to get his Masters in 2025. It’s happening; you can book it!”
Is Rory McIlroy getting closer to his first Masters Tournament victory?
If he lands his first green jacket in 2025, the four-time major winner will be one of the most popular Masters champions. McIlroy’s collapse in 2011 set a narrative that will follow the Northern Irishman until he finally wins a Masters title.
From 2014 onwards, the signs were positive. McIlroy placed in the top ten five times in a row before finishing T21 in 2019, the year Tiger Woods won his 15th major.
| Tournament | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 |

The Holywood-born star’s best finish came in 2022, after he fired an eight-under-par final round, ending up three shots back of Scheffler.
McIlroy has struggled in his last two Masters appearances, missing the cut in 2023 and finishing well out of contention in 2024. Hopefully, after a disappointing couple of years, the tide once again begins to turn for the Northern Irishman.
