Marco Penge leads the Genesis Invitational after two rounds, following an exceptional bogey-free 64 on day two at Riviera.
Penge achieved huge success on the DP World Tour last season, winning three times, and he earned his PGA Tour card for 2026 as a result of that fine form.
The Englishman has made a slow start to the season on the PGA Tour, with two missed cuts and a T-64 finish to his name.
Are you concerned about Scottie Scheffler right now?
He is really struggling with his first rounds right now…
However, that all changed this week at the Genesis Invitational after Penge carded rounds of 66 and 64 to lead at Riviera with 36 holes left to play.
He played alongside Wyndham Clark in Pacific Palisades during the first two rounds and the 32-year-old is well-placed as well, after rounds of 67 and 68 left him inside the top-10 midway through the tournament.
Clark has caused plenty of controversy on the PGA Tour over the past year or so, namely his outburst during the US Open which culminated in him damaging some of the lockers.
The 2023 US Open champion was banned as a result of that.
However, Penge had only positive things to say about the American after playing with him at Riviera.
Marco Penge comments on Wyndham Clark after day two at the Genesis
Clark and Penge would have been a superb group to follow around at Riviera during the first two days.
They are two of the longest hitters in the game and it’s no surprise that they’ve both performed well in Pacific Palisades this week.
When speaking on Sky Sports’ broadcast of the Genesis, Penge was asked how he’s settling into life on the PGA Tour and how it compares to playing on the DP World Tour.
“Yeah, this is only my fourth week but it’s obviously different to Europe,“ Penge admitted.

“You need different attributes to play well in Europe, and different here, so I’m still figuring that out a bit.
“I still have so much to improve on and get better at. Parts of my game still really frustrate me. I’m just learning from all of the top players out here and, you know, playing with Wyndham the last two days, and some great players over the past three to four weeks.
“It’s just nice to watch them and try to learn stuff from them.“
Marco Penge laments one part of his game despite leading the Genesis
Despite his fine play so far this week, the Englishman still isn’t entirely happy.
“I mean, my iron play for me, it’s just so inconsistent,“ Penge explained.
Who will have more majors? 🏆
Tiger or Scottie…
“The performance I put on there for the last seven holes was just so good, and then some of the shots I hit on the front nine, the two just don’t go together, if you know what I mean.
“I suppose being a high ball speed player and being the high flair player that I am, that may just always be like that.
“But I definitely would like to tighten some screws and bring it all together a bit more.
“I think that’s just part of my process to try and become better.“
If Penge does find a way to improve his iron play, there is no doubt he could challenge for the very biggest tournaments on a consistent basis.
