While we enjoy the drama of the PGA Tour on an almost weekly basis, the drama witnessed in a non-professional event at this week’s Internet Invitational might usurp everything we’ve seen in 2025, thanks to Luke Kwon.

Kwon was one of the big names in the field for the event put on by Barstool Sports but in a surprise to many, he slept through his tee-time for the opening session on Friday.

At the time, Kwon was criticised heavily and even his own teammates for the event were caught digging him out as he arrived.

The situation has spiralled beyond belief and now, over on his YouTube channel, Kwon has been forced to issue an apology and statement of sorts.

Luke Kwon speaks out after recent criticism

For a YouTube golf event to have the amount of big names involved that it did means that a lot of time and effort went in to organising things.

Of course, this isn’t professional golf but there is money on the line and crucially, reputations in the social media space to uphold.

Now, after coming under fire all weekend for his actions, Kwon has taken to YouTube to issue a very lengthy apology.

Kwon spoke of being ‘genuinely sorry’ in the 18 minute clip posted on YouTube, while he also issued personal apologies to a number of people he had obviously upset.

Previously a member of the Good Good group, Kwon is one of the biggest names in the YouTube golf space and his reply has already garnered north of 200,000 views.

Content creators back Luke Kwon after Internet Invitational issues

Those who have watched Kwon over the years will attest to him being a humble and down to earth character and it does appear that on this occasion he has made a genuine error.

Indeed, down in the comments on his video, a number of huge names in the YouTube golf space moved to back him.

The popular Bryan Bros were among those to support him, saying:

“We got your back Kwon. You messed and that’s fine, we all do! You’re def stupid most of the time but we are still here for you!! Excited for vids to come next couple of weeks”

Another couple of big names to back Kwon were TheDodKing and Peter Finch, who both wrote messages of support in their own way.

“They’ll never make me hate Kwon”, DodKing added, while Finch simply wrote ‘My son’ in a show of support.

Kwon, it seems, has tried to come out of this looking well and the apology is all well and good.

But in a world with so many eyeballs on it now in YouTube golf, errors like this are jumped on quickly and he’s dealt with a lot this past few days.
