Luke Donald says what everyone has seen from previous Ryder Cups that he doesn’t want to happen again

Luke Donald is once again in the Team Europe hot seat for the Ryder Cup as he looks to make it back-to-back wins.

Donald says Sergio Garcia wants to be in contention for the 2025 Ryder Cup, which takes place in New York next September.

His fellow LIV Golf star Tyrrell Hatton boosted his Ryder Cup chances after winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Sunday.

Team USA lost out to Team Europe in Rome last year, with Keegan Bradley having now taken over the Ryder Cup captaincy from Zach Johnson.

The home fans were in full voice throughout the tournament, helping drive their team to success in the Italian capital.

Luke Donald doesn’t want 2025 Ryder Cup to cross the line

Another raucous atmosphere can be expected at Bethpage Black, this time in favour of Bradley’s Team USA.

But his opposite number Donald is wary of the crowd getting out of control, with the Team Europe captain telling BBC Sport: “We’ve all seen Ryder Cups where it has crossed the line. It’s the responsibility of the PGA of America to have protocols and a plan in place.

“Keegan and I like to do things the right way, win fairly and squarely. We want the best team to win in a passionate and spirited high-energy environment.”

Keegan Bradley seeking Team USA revenge at Bethpage Black

New York’s Bethpage Black hosts the 45th instalment of the Ryder Cup, where the home side will be more than up for revenge.

Donald guided his side to a 16½-11½ victory at Marco Simone last time out, much to the disappointment of the visitors.

But things will look very different on home soil for Team USA, with Donald and Bradley fully aware of just how much of a role home advantage plays at the event.

The former is seeking to become the first captain to win away since Jose Maria Olazabal in 2012, with the unforgettable victory now well-known as the Miracle of Medinah.

The latter meanwhile will be keen to right the wrongs made by Johnson, although there is still every chance that Bradley will play at the Ryder Cup along with his captaincy role.
