Ludvig Aberg is now a two-time PGA Tour winner after sealing the Genesis Invitational and he had some kind words for tournament host Tiger Woods after claiming victory.
Aberg produced an imperious performance to reel in Maverick McNealy and win it on the final hole with a well-taken birdie on 18.
Aberg, who was picked by Luke Donald for Team Europe in 2023 before starring in Rome, looks very much like he’s on the way to the top of the game and after finishing second in the Masters on debut in 2024, he’ll fancy his chances again this year.
Of course, Aberg wouldn’t be getting win number two if it wasn’t for Tiger Woods and the Genesis putting on this event.
Tiger was due to play but didn’t tee it up following the death of his mother. However, Aberg had some positive words for Woods as he lapped up his win.

Aberg was seemingly on cloud nine as he made his way off the course after holing out on 18 for the win.
And when asked about what it meant to win the tournament hosted by Tiger Woods, Aberg admitted it was a cool feeling to get it over the line.
“He is the goat,” Aberg said. “It is pretty cool [winning his event]. Everything he has done, everyone who has idolised him growing up, I was the same.
“I was watching Tiger videos on YouTube and watching every tournament that I could. He means a lot to our game and to win this event is quite surreal.”
Ludvig Aberg told he ‘has everything’ after winning at Torrey Pines
Ludvig Aberg is very much a big rising star in the world of golf right now and it would be no surprise to see him go on and become a multiple major winner.
Indeed, according to Dame Laura Davies, Aberg is very much a player who just has everything needed to be a big success.
“Once again he knows how good he is. He sees every shot he hits. He knows he has every shot. But now he has won at the higher level, these events go in stages. This is just below the majors, the majors and the Players. But this is a signature event,” Davies said.
“Now he has one of those tucked away, he is so young and so good and his temperament will take him all the way to the very top. I said last year he would go all the way to number one, probably by now, but obviously what Scottie has done… but if he keeps winning tournaments and playing like this then he will reach that pinnacle at some point. He has everything.”
Aberg will be desperate to keep winning and with a Ryder Cup again in 2025, the Swede will no doubt be a key figure again.
