Ludvig Aberg will head into the final round of the BMW Championship six shots adrift of the leader, Robert MacIntyre.

Aberg‘s results have been patchy at best over the past few months, but the Swede has found some form at just the right time, with the Ryder Cup on the horizon.

The 25-year-old carded a third round 68 at the BMW Championship, and that was a fine effort given some of the pin locations at Caves Valley.

Aberg said that he is a big fan of the golf course at the BMW Championship, and that has been clearly evident with his play this week.

The smooth-swinging Swede has all the tools needed to win around tough tracks like Caves Valley.

However, he will need a really low round on Sunday if he is to earn the third PGA Tour victory of his career.

It seems as though Aberg is embracing the challenge of catching Robert MacIntyre on Sunday at Caves Valley.

That’s exactly the way he should approach the final round as well.

After he posted a 68 on day three at the BMW Championship, Aberg was asked how he will approach the final round on Sunday.

He said: Yeah, it’s definitely going to take a really good score. Bob is playing really great golf and so is Mr. Scheffler. It’s a tough task and it’s a tall order, but I’m excited about where I’m at. I’m excited about what I’ve seen so far this week and these last couple of weeks, which is encouraging to me, and I know I’ll be excited to go play tomorrow and see where that ends up tomorrow night.

He was then asked whether he believes a round of seven-under par or better will be possible on Sunday at Caves Valley.

Aberg responded:Yeah, it all depends on the pins. There’s definitely some big-boy holes. Obviously 17 today is a tricky one, some long par-3s, and you’ve got to strike the ball well. But it seems like there’s always someone shooting a good score on the PGA TOUR, and hopefully we can do some good things tomorrow.

The man from Sweden clearly has a very positive mindset right now, and that should help him in his pursuit of MacIntyre during day four of the BMW Championship.

Aberg might have struggled on the PGA Tour recently, but he is clearly on the correct path now, as he looks to rediscover his best form.

Aberg’s game is in fine shape right now, and his stats at the BMW Championship prove just how solid he has been this week in Baltimore.

The challenge for the two-time PGA Tour winner now will be to go out on Sunday, shoot a round in the low-60s, and see where that takes him.
