Ludvig Aberg has shared whether he thinks Robert MacIntyre can win The Open Championship this week after the 27-year-old managed to win the Scottish Open at the weekend.
Ludvig Aberg showed a lot of class on what must have been a testing final day at The Renaissance Club, with the Swede starting Sunday at the Scottish Open two shots clear of Robert MacIntyre.
Aberg was ultimately the only player in the top 21 to shoot over par on Sunday, with three bogeys on the back nine taking the 24-year-old out of contention. And that presented MacIntyre with the chance to secure his second win of the year, making a brilliant birdie on the last to beat Adam Scott by one.
MacIntyre has had a turbulent year to say the least, missing nine cuts on the PGA Tour while also winning the Canadian Open as well as the Scottish Open.

The 27-year-old is now looking to become the first player since Phil Mickelson in 2013 to win the Scottish Open before going on to clinch victory at The Open Championship.
And speaking to the media at Royal Troon, Aberg was asked whether he could see MacIntyre making it back-to-back victories and securing his first major title.

“Oh yeah, he won yesterday so I definitely think he can win again. Fair play to Bob yesterday, he did tremendously and it’s not easy going out and playing in front of a big crowd like that and perform, and he did that very well so really happy for him and his family and his coaches for what he did yesterday. And obviously, this week is going to be pretty special for him as well,” he said.
Bob has the momentum
MacIntyre would definitely be an incredibly popular winner at Troon, and he has plenty of momentum after his superb finish last week. He made an eagle and a birdie in the final three holes to win.
Belief looks to be one attribute MacIntyre perhaps lacks at times, with the Scot needing time to settle into his Ryder Cup debut last year, as well as on the PGA Tour this season.
But he has shown that he can compete against the best, with a star-studded field losing out to him at The Renaissance Club. This is a fantastic opportunity for MacIntyre to clear that final hurdle and move his name alongside the greats of the game.
