The upcoming Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black is one of the most eagerly anticipated showdowns in recent history.
Team USA will be desperate to win back the Ryder Cup trophy from Team Europe at Bethpage in September.
And the competition is expected to be one of the most exciting matchups of all time.
All the talk right now is revolving around whether Keegan Bradley will act as a playing captain for the U.S. team at the Ryder Cup.
Bradley is currently sitting in ninth spot in the U.S. points list, and he is playing some sensational golf right now.
However, The United States ending up with a playing captain might not be a great thing for them.
The Europeans seem to be far more settled as a team unit right now, although Luke Donald still has two or three big decisions to make.
Sergio Garcia makes Ryder Cup claim after talks with Luke Donald
LIV Golf star Sergio Garcia is determined to be at Bethpage Black in September.
However, his hopes of doing just that are being severely hindered by the fact that LIV Golf doesn’t receive world ranking points.

It seems like being part of the Ryder Cup team is very much still in his hands though.
Garcia was asked whether he would accept a captain’s pick right now.
He said: “As of the way I played yesterday, yes.“
And what about today?
“I haven’t played yet. I’m working on it. I had a good conversation with Luke last week, and we both know what we want. The only thing I can do is keep working hard, keep building my confidence up, and if I’m able to do that, then it should be fine. We’ll see.“
It was then put to Garcia that it should be up to him then, regarding whether or not he plays at the Ryder Cup in September.
He said: “Well, the pick is going to be up to him. Up to me is going to be the way I play. Obviously, yeah, if I play well, I think I have a good opportunity, a good chance of being picked. If I don’t, then it’ll depend a little bit on where I stand or how things are going. We’ll see. Still early.“
He was then asked how he plans to deal with upcoming DP World Tour fines.
Garcia said: “I’ll just pay whatever I have to pay. It is what it is. It’s not something that I’m focused on. I’m focused on playing golf.“
It’s now down to Garcia to perform well at The Open, pay his fines and put in some solid performances on the DP World Tour over the next couple of months.
Sergio Garcia’s Ryder Cup record
Garcia has played and won more matches than anyone else in the history of the Ryder Cup.
The Spaniard has won 28.5 points in the history of the competition.
He has a record of 23 wins, 13 defeats and seven halves from 43 Ryder Cup matches.
Garcia absolutely loves the Ryder Cup and everything that the competition entails.
Team Europe are always stronger when the Spaniard is part of their setup, and he may well still feature at Bethpage Black in September if everything works out how he would like.
