Golf is hard enough when you’re fighting fit so to go out and try and perform when things aren’t at 100% deserves plenty of credit.
With the weather causing chaos in this Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, simply getting round with a half decent score is admirable enough.
However, the modern golfer is never happy with just doing that and with two rounds in the books in Scotland, our leaders are sitting at -12.
One behind those leaders is LIV Golf star and South African favourite, Louis Oosthuizen.
Oosthuizen has been quietly going about his business as he always does and after getting to 11-under par and third place, the South African has admitted it wasn’t the easiest round.

Louis Oosthuizen admits to being sick before round two of the Alfred Dunhill Links
Louis Oosthuizen has been one of the game’s most consistent performers for some time now and his move to LIV was one of the few that made sense at the time.
Having already won a major – The Open in 2010 – Oosthuizen probably felt he’d gone as far as he could on the PGA Tour as he raced towards his 40s.
- That win at The Open has served him well and he’s in contention at the Dunhill Links right now.
However, it’s not come easy for Oosthuizen, who admitted to actually being under the weather before going out to play.
“I don’t know. I’ve been lying down actually sick. So I think it’s probably not really worrying about golf, just trying to get through the day,” Oosthuizen admitted.
“No, I love the links golf. I think it was one of the few times that I played Carnoustie when the weather was that good, and then I played well yesterday, and I think always this tournament, starting off really good gives you good motivation going into the next round. And Kingsbarns, as well. I always struggle around here but today I felt like I played pretty good.
“I made a stupid bogey on one hole, 3-putting from 20-foot, and the rest, played pretty solid.”

Louis Oosthuizen’s DP World Tour record in numbers
Louis Oosthuizen has had quite the career and has been a regular and persistent supporter of the DP World Tour and the events it hosts.
Over the years, Oosthuizen has played in over 330 DP World events and won over $19m in the process.
Along the way, Oosthuizen has bagged himself 11 wins as well, proving he is more than adept when it comes to getting over the line.
Coincidentally, one of those wins came at the Alfred Dunhill Links back in 2023, when Oosthuizen won with a total score of -18.
Given he’s 11-under already, that -18 score is firmly in sight and if he gets to there, he might just bag himself a second Dunhill title in the process.
