With LIV Golf about to enter its fourth season in 2025, the players we saw first involved with the breakaway tour are starting to come to the end of their original deals and one LIV original has now been released.
A number of players made the move to LIV in 2022 for big money as the likes of Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau all opted to make the shift.
With LIV now very much in full swing, we’ve seen changes to the rosters over the years, and even new teams, like Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII.
However, for some LIV golf originals, their time on the tour is coming to an end and it’s now been confirmed that is the case for three-time PGA Tour winner, Pat Perez.

Pat Perez released from LIV Golf as Dustin Johnson makes changes
Pat Perez was one of the first players to make the move to LIV Golf and at the time, he was a player who didn’t come in for as much criticism due to his age and earning potential on the PGA Tour.
However, after three years with Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces and helping them to win the team championship in 2022, Perez is now on his way.
Perez struggled in the main last season for the 4Aces and managed just two top 20 finishes, with his best effort coming at Nashville, where he finished 14th.
Quite what Perez will do now, remains to be seen but at 48 and with plenty of money made from LIV, there’s every chance he stops away from the game in the short-term at least.
Thomas Pieters to replace Pat Perez for the 4Aces
As always on LIV, when one player departs, it opens the door for another player to step in.
For the 4Aces, it will be former Ryder Cup star Thomas Pieters who takes his place.
Pieters was confirmed as part of the team in December after moving on from Bubba Watson’s RangeCoats GC.
“Happy to have Thomas on the team. He’s a great addition, great player and makes the team stronger. Really excited for next season,” captain Johnson said at the time.
At 32, Pieters gives the 4Aces a younger feel and he’ll form part of the team alongside Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, and Harold Varner III.
