We appear to be closer than ever before when it comes to having LIV Golf stars playing on the PGA Tour again, with a deal between the two sides potentially imminent.

Of course, the last week has been dominated by speculation surrounding the talks between the PGA Tour, the PIF and Donald Trump at the White House. There were even suggestions that they could lead to LIV Golf stars featuring at the Players Championship in March.

Those talks did not go as well as hoped. Nevertheless, Billy Horschel stated his belief that a deal remains imminent between the two sides. But there is also another interesting factor to consider.

A number of LIV Golf players will be coming towards the end of the contracts they signed when they left the PGA Tour. And it would be slightly surprising if one or two – given how many players there are – did not decide to reject the chance to continue on LIV.

One of those who apparently is weighing up his future is Bryson DeChambeau, with Pull Hook Golf reporting on X that the two-time major champion has not signed an extension and is expected to return to the PGA Tour for 2026.

However, Flushing It responded by saying that DeChambeau’s deal with LIV runs until the end of next year – and thus, any potential return to the PGA Tour is highly unlikely for the best part of two years. And it seems that their response has been backed by Majesticks co-captain Lee Westwood.

What Bryson DeChambeau said about LIV Golf in 2024

DeChambeau has benefitted from LIV Golf like few others. He was gaining popularity by the time he made the switch, but it is fair to say – regardless of what you think of LIV – that he has now become one of the most beloved figures in the game.

The schedule also appeared to boost DeChambeau’s hopes of performing well in the sport’s biggest events as he finished in the top 10 at the first three majors of the year.

And judging by what DeChambeau said towards the end of the 2024 season, it is hard to imagine the Crushers captain weighing up moving back to the PGA Tour before an agreement gets done.

“What I think is so special and different about LIV is that you’re not just competing for yourself but you’re competing for a team. With some teams, it’s their country. You’ve got the Rippers and Australia. You’ve got the Stingers and South Africa. It means so much more,” he said

“I think that’s what’s so beautiful about it is you’re representing not only yourself but sometimes a country, as well, or a region. So I think it’s beautiful.”

It would be the kind of blow LIV would struggle to recover from – but clearly, some are not at all concerned about the claims.
