It has been a pretty miserable year on the golf course for Kevin Kisner, with the 41-year-old going into the 3M Open having missed 12 of 14 cuts on the PGA Tour in 2025.

Kevin Kisner has got plenty on his plate right now. Kisner, of course, does plenty of work as a broadcaster. And he will be one of Keegan Bradley‘s vice-captains later this year when the Ryder Cup gets to Bethpage.

He was also the star of TGL when it came to delivering entertainment in the So-Fi Center earlier this year.

Unfortunately, his form on the golf course has suffered. Kisner’s best finish heading into July was tied for 70th place at the Valspar Championship. He had missed the cut in every other event he had played.

Kevin Kisner suggests how Scottie Scheffler has inspired him

But that run ended at the ISCO Championship as he finished in a tie for eighth. And he has opened up his week at the 3M Open with a four under par round of 67 at TPC Twin Cities.

It seems that he has enjoyed a lot more success on the greens. He was sixth for strokes gained putting on his previous start, according to the PGA Tour website. He was asked about any changes he had made to his putting recently, and he noted that he had taken inspiration from Scottie Scheffler.

“The putter? I started putting with a claw at some point this year and it sure has been a nice turnaround. I don’t know why that changed. I felt awful over the putter for the last year and a half and missing a lot of short ones. I just grabbed it with a claw one day and started making the short ones,” he said.

“So I kind of branched it out a little bit like Scottie did, like Scottie does and then I just went all way through the bag. So the ball’s rolling like I remember it rolling and that’s nice to see, so I don’t know what it does but it feels nice.”

Kevin Kisner is determined to end his PGA Tour career on a high

Kisner has fallen to 694th in the world rankings and is 195th in the FedEx Cup standings. And given the quality of his broadcasting, fans would be forgiven for thinking that he is coming towards the end of his career as a full-time player on the PGA Tour.

His most recent win on the PGA Tour came back in 2021, while he has not played in a major since the 2023 PGA Championship.

But Kisner suggested that he is determined to put himself in a position to win again after such a disappointing spell.

“I played so poorly for ’23 and ’24 I really just wanted to come back and show myself that I could still do it. The last few weeks have showed me that I can. I just want to get in the hunt one more time and see how I perform,” he added.

“The ISCO was great, I had a chance on the back nine, just couldn’t get any putts to go, and obviously William played unbelievable. Yeah, I’d love to have a chance here the next couple weeks and if not, I’ll go call the Playoffs for NBC and love that, too.”

Kisner has definitely got his work cut out with Adam Svensson opening up his week at the 3M Open with an 11 under par round of 60. But his first round suggests that he certainly has a good chance of registering yet another top 10.
