Keegan Bradley warned he is going to have a real problem to solve with Bryson DeChambeau at the Ryder Cup

Unless he suffers an injury between now and September, it is hard to imagine that there is any way that Bryson DeChambeau will not make his return to the Ryder Cup later this year.

It is almost remarkable to think now that Bryson DeChambeau did not play at the 2023 Ryder Cup at Rome. The American has become one of the biggest stars in the game, and he has certainly been the biggest success story since LIV Golf started up.

Since Rome, DeChambeau has doubled his major tally, having won the 2024 US Open. Meanwhile, he has finished in the top six in five of the last six majors.

DeChambeau has been in contention on Sunday to win in each of his last five starts, with a victory coming at LIV Golf Korea in his final appearance before the PGA Championship. With that, there seems to be next to no chance of the 31-year-old not being a part of Keegan Bradley‘s team at Bethpage.

But perhaps that may come with an issue.

Keegan Bradley told he may have a problem with Bryson DeChambeau ahead of the Ryder Cup

DeChambeau is unique in the current game. There does not appear to be anyone who swings the golf club like him, or views equipment in the same way.

And while that may not necessarily be an issue, Brendon de Jonge has suggested on The Wagyu Filet Show that accommodating DeChambeau may cause Bradley one or two headaches.

“I would struggle to put Bryson out there in an alternate shot match. I think he plays a game that’s so different from everybody else, I don’t know who you could pair with Bryson,” he said.

“The one guy who comes to mind is maybe Collin Morikawa, because I think if you can figure out, and I haven’t sat down and done a breakdown of Bethpage, where Bryson’s hitting the majority of the tee shots and you’re getting Morikawa to hit the majority of the iron shots, I think that that could be a formidable pair. The weakness for Bryson is that iron game. But as I say, he’s so hard to pair with somebody because his game is so different.”

“Even the Morikawa-DeChambeau pairing for better ball would be incredible, because Morikawa’s down the fairway, he’s got looks on every hole, he’s kind of like par’s your partner, and he’s also going to throw a bunch of birdies at you. And DeChambeau can just go freewheeling, cutting corners, taking on flags. I think that’s an awesome pairing, I like that,” Johnson Wagner replied.

How Bryson DeChambeau has performed in both of his Ryder Cup appearances

DeChambeau has two very contrasting experiences at the Ryder Cup. His debut in 2018 was one to forget, with DeChambeau losing all three of his matches in Paris.

In fairness to DeChambeau, he was paired with Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods in each of the foursomes sessions at Le Golf National. Neither player had a good week, with Mickelson, in particular, having an awful day on Friday. He would sit out all of Saturday for the second time in two trips across the pond.

But DeChambeau was much more successful three years later. Alongside rookie Scottie Scheffler, DeChambeau would claim 1.5 points from two matches. He would also go on to beat Sergio Garcia in the Sunday singles. Garcia had been, up until that point, one of the only positives for Europe at Whistling Straits.

DeChambeau is playing some of the best golf of his career right now. And he will surely be one of the players the European team will be most concerned about.
