While Keegan Bradley was a long way back of contending with Justin Rose at the Farmers Insurance Open this past week, the 2025 US Ryder Cup captain certainly managed to attract some attention at Torrey Pines.

It proved to be another underwhelming week for Keegan Bradley on the PGA Tour. He had missed the cut at The American Express in his first appearance of the season.

Should AimPoint be banned?

The 39-year-old ended the Farmers Insurance Open in a tie for 43rd. But it was an incident from Saturday’s third round that led to Bradley receiving plenty of criticism.

Keegan Bradley clip from the Farmers Insurance Open attracts plenty of criticism

Bradley has been one of the most idiosyncratic players on the PGA Tour throughout his career. And he has not always been the fastest out on the course.

So when a clip showing Bradley taking over a minute over a four-foot putt did the rounds at the weekend, it was no surprise that a number of fans could not contain their frustration.

Bradley is a big fan of AimPoint. Initially in the clip, he spent some time removing spike marks on his line before appearing to take five readings with his feet.

With that, many have called for the PGA Tour to act. One viewer wrote: ‘AimPoint is getting out of hand.’

Another said: ‘Get rid of this in golf. So damn annoying how slow they are‘.

Elsewhere, there have been suggestions that the tour needs to enforce stricter timing penalties. One person said: ‘Need to implement a time clock like the MLB did with the pitch clock. This is ridiculous and boring to watch.’

Someone else posted: ‘30 sec time limit or it’s a 1 shot penalty for every 30 seconds‘. ‘Pro golf is completely unwatchable now‘, was the claim from another social media user.

Keegan Bradley receives much of the blame

Of course, a number of players use AimPoint now to read putts. While it is divisive, it does appear that most do not allow it to take too long.

And there are several fans directing the blame at Bradley himself, with one viewer writing: ‘I’d rather just see Keegan Bradley banned. Absolute clown‘.

Another said: ‘That’s hard to watch. Like Keegan, but he’s a big part of the problem.’

Finally, one person wrote: ‘Keegan is insufferable in every way‘.

Poa annua greens are notoriously difficult to putt in, particularly as a tournament reaches its latter stages. So Bradley may argue that this incident is unlikely to happen again over the course of the season.

But you can understand why some professionals have called for AimPoint to be banned. Clips such as the one involving Bradley from this past week only strengthen the case for action to be taken.
