It’s been an entertaining and eventful week at The Wyndham Championship and young Australian golfer Karl Vilips continued the excitement factor in the final round by making a hole-in-one.
Vilips ended up finishing his tournament in T20 but played some solid golf as he looks to continue to build on another good PGA Tour season.
Three rounds of 67, with a round of 69 on the Saturday, helped Vilips finish at -10 for his week and post another respectable finish.
However, while his overall golf was looking good, there’s no doubting the highlight of his week was the ace he made on the par three third on Sunday.
Now, speaking about that brilliant moment, Vilips has revealed it’s actually nowhere near his first ever hole-in-one.

Karl Vilips says how many hole-in-ones he’s had in his life
Making a hole-in-one at any point in your life is a massive achievement but making one in a PGA Tour event is next level stuff.
We’ve seen players do it over the years and it never gets old really, regardless of whether that player is in the mix to win or not.
For Vilips, it played a crucial role in him getting a decent finish but when asked if it was his first ace, Vilips admitted there’s been plenty more.
“No, that was my 10th, so double digits now,” the 23-year-old admitted.
“I got off to the start I needed. I knew what I needed to shoot out there today and the ace on 3 was a quick way to get that going. Thought I improved a lot off the tee today. I’ve been struggling a little bit, just couldn’t get the putts to fall down the stretch.
“Just kind of up and down round. It’s been pretty steady the first two days, but today it was a little more volatile, but I hit it nice. I was really happy with how I played.”
Karl Vilips ranks his first year on the PGA Tour
Karl Vilips is one of a number of young players trying to make a name for themselves in the game right now and he’s doing a grand job in fairness.
Vilips has had a good season, with a sprinkling of top tens and top fives on his record.
Indeed, in assessing his first full year on TOUR, the Aussie admitted he’s been thoroughly delighted in the main.
“I thought I definitely went above expectations. You know, I think where I wanted to be I didn’t get to, which was a little bit unfortunate, but I’m really happy with what I saw throughout the year. Had some highs and lows, experienced it all kind of my first season,” Vilips said.
“But I’m just going to look at this season as a whole as a positive for sure, getting the win early and go out next year and try to improve on what I did next year.”
Pressed on what’s up next for him personally, Vilips admitted the grind will continue.
“I’m going to probably play Procore in Napa, play a few of the fall events, keep loose, play some golf, have some fun.”
