Justin Thomas ended up in seventh position in the US Ryder Cup points list, so he will be reliant on a captain’s pick from Keegan Bradley in order to make the team.

Thomas returned to the PGA Tour winners’ circle after a three-year hiatus with his victory at the RBC Heritage back in April.

With that win, Ryder Cup qualification seemed like a mere formality for the 32-year-old, but that hasn’t proven to be the case.

It has even been suggested that Thomas is far from certain of playing at the Ryder Cup, with his awful recent record in majors a real ‘knock against his profile’.

Bradley was excited about Thomas’s form ahead of the Ryder Cup four months ago, but he must be feeling the complete opposite right now.

The two-time major champion’s best finish in his last four events was a T-22 and he has had just one top-10 since he secured a T-2 finish at the Truist Championship in May,

Justin Thomas says if he deserves to be on the Ryder Cup team

The 16-time PGA Tour winner sat down to speak to the media on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming Tour Championship at East Lake.

Unsurprisingly, attention quickly turned to the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in September.

Thomas was asked by one reporter how he feels about his chances of making the Ryder Cup team, given his poor recent form.

He said: A lot better. Yeah. I had no idea what was going to happen two years ago. Every day, every hour of every day was something different of how I felt, was going to happen, was not going to happen.

I understood completely both sides. I understood why if I didn’t get picked, why that would have been the choice, and so on and so forth. I feel like I’ve earned — I’ve given a little bit more reason or opportunity to not be in that position that I was two years ago for sure. It helps being in Atlanta versus not even making the playoffs kind of thing.

That’s fair from JT. His form was horrendous heading into the 2023 Ryder Cup.

At least this year he has shown some promise, albeit a lot earlier on in the season.

Justin Thomas’s PGA Tour results in 2025

Thomas has experienced a really strange 2025 season actually.

Here are results from this year on the PGA Tour:

ResultsThomas’s totals
Events played19
Wins1
Top-5s4
Top-10s7
Top-25s8
Missed cuts2

On the face of it, those results seem fairly impressive.

However, the bulk of those top-10s from Thomas came inside the first half of the season and as we all know, it’s vitally important to have in-form players on the Ryder Cup team.

It remains to be seen whether Bradley gives him the call, but it feels like he is a dead cert to be on the team.

After all, the Americans are struggling outside of the current top six in the standings anyway.
