Justin Thomas will be looking to get himself ready for the Masters in a few weeks’ time and after coming so close at the Valspar Championship, he’ll feel a win isn’t far away.
Thomas allowed Viktor Hovland to sneak in and win at the Valspar but in the main, he looked in fine form and continues to build ahead of Augusta National.
Thomas has been tipped to be one to watch around Augusta and the American will know full well that a big performance in the Masters could seal him a Ryder Cup slot.
Of course, he’ll have to battle the elements and the general tough nature of Augusta National.
And back in 2021, Thomas described just how special he finds the whole property.

Why Justin Thomas loves playing at Augusta National
Thomas was speaking on the Whoop Podcast back in 2021 and got onto the subject of the Masters and how the course and venue plays.
And for Thomas, he says there’s just something unexplainable about Augusta that he can’t quite fathom.
“I don’t even know how to describe it. It is just such a beautiful place,” Thomas said. “Have you ever been to a place where there are that many pine trees and you don’t see any squirrels or birds? It does not make sense! It is special.
“The crowd and the buzz it has when you are out there. Everybody is so nice and everything is so organised.
“It is just they have one tournament, well other tournaments, but their main tournament is once a year and they make sure it’s the absolute best experience that we and everybody involved has and it is.”
Justin Thomas’ record at The Masters
Justin Thomas has never won the Masters and in fact, he’s never really come too close to getting that sacred green jacket either.
Having won two PGA Championships, Thomas will be desperate to win the Masters but he’ll need to perform better than recent times.
Thomas has missed the cut in the last two Masters tournaments and prior to that, his best finish is a fourth back in 2021.
| Justin Thomas at the Masters | Final position |
| 2019 | T12 |
| 2020 | 4th |
| 2021 | T21 |
| 2022 | T8 |
| 2023 | CUT |
| 2024 | CUT |
| 2025 | T36 |
While Thomas has not been disastrous at Augusta, his last two efforts will be worrying and he’ll need a fast start in order to stop the demons of those two years coming into his head to haunt him.
