Justin Thomas is one of the big names from America safely into the weekend at The Open and it’s safe to the say major winner was happy to be at Royal Portrush.
Thomas had the pleasure and pressure of playing alongside two of the crowd’s favourites in Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood and all three fed off each other to make the cut.
For Thomas, playing at The Open in front of such a raucous crowd can only be good preparation for the Ryder Cup in September.
Of course, Thomas is still not out of the tournament at all and a good round three could see him move into contention for Sunday.
As we all know, Royal Portrush represents a tough old challenge and we’ve seen countless players get frustrated already this week.
However, for Justin Thomas, it seems it’s all about lapping up every moment.

Justin Thomas posts on Instagram after round two of The Open
American star Thomas is enjoying a good 2025 after finally getting back in the winner’s circle this year and it’s no surprise to see him at Portrush for the weekend.
Over the years, Thomas seems to have put any demons he had behind him and now looks a more cool and comfortable figure on the golf course, even when things aren’t going well.
Golfers are very privileged to be playing the game we all love for a job and over on Instagram, Thomas’ appreciation was obvious.
Justin Thomas shows that good players thrive off each other
Sometimes in golf, the players you are sent out with can make or break your round and sometimes, even your full week.
For Justin Thomas, going out alongside Fleetwood and McIlroy might have hindered him but in the end, he seemed to thrive.
All three players played very well in round two and were all, it seems, willing each on to do well.
That was obvious when a Thomas putt failed to drop in the hole as all three willed it in but to no avail.
Quite who Thomas goes out with over the weekend remains to be seen. But once again, round two has shown us that if a whole group is playing well, then good things happen.
