Justin Thomas definitely knows how to win on the PGA Tour and going into the final round of the ZOZO Championship, he’s well in the mix to add another title to his resume.
Thomas, who has won the PGA Championship twice alongside 13 other PGA tournaments, has gone to the big event in Japan after taking some time out after the TOUR Championship.
Thankfully for him and golf fans around the world, Thomas seems to have found some form and he goes into tomorrow’s final round just two back of the leader.
Thomas had a woeful 2024 really and his best finish came right back in his first even of 2024, when he finished second at the American Express.
However, it looks like Thomas is looking to follow up that fast start earlier this year by going one better at the ZOZO.
And for the two-time major winner, his performance so far at the ZOZO Championship has put him in a position he’s not found himself in since September 2023.

Justin Thomas finds himself closest to winning a tournament for first time in over a year
According to the Athletic’s golf stats writer Justin Ray, Thomas has now put himself in the best position he’s found himself in in over a year.
According to Ray, in a post on X, this is the closest Thomas has been to the leader going into the final round since the Fortinet Championship in September 2023.
Of course, that Fortinet title was won by Sahith Theegala, as Thomas ended up falling down the field and finishing fifth.
However, with the ZOZO within reach and just two back of Nicolas Echavarria, the American will feel he can finally convert and get back into the winner’s circle.

For a player like Justin Thomas, going so long without being in contention is a killer and in fact, he hasn’t actually won on the PGA Tour since his PGA win in 2022.
Thomas, then, will be hoping the stars align when round four gets underway in Japan.
