Justin Thomas missed the cut at the US Open this week, as Oakmont proved to be just too difficult for him.
Thomas is obviously one of the very best players in the world, but his game was a long way from being where it needed to be to compete at the US Open.
Oakmont is an unforgiving golf course even in benign conditions, and the 32-year-old PGA Tour star found that out the hard way.
Thomas was seen practicing on the range at Oakmont on Saturday after he missed the cut.

That’s a huge credit to him. Nobody can accuse Thomas of being lazy, that’s for sure.
The American is well-known for working his tail off at all times, and he really needs to lean back on that work ethic now.

Thomas has actually been well off the boil since his win at the RBC Heritage in April.
He shot two rounds of 76 at Oakmont to miss the cut at the US Open by five shots.
Thomas looked like a real shadow of his former self out on the course during the first two rounds of the US Open.

However, the fact that he is even worse off in the scrambling category really is a shock.
