The Truist Championship is in the books for another year and both Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay have called on the PGA Tour to enact some changes following the tournament.
Philadelphia Cricket Club was the host venue for the tournament which saw European Ryder Cup star Sepp Straka get a second win of the season ahead of Shane Lowry.
However, there was positive news for the American Ryder Cup hopefuls as well, as both Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay showed good form to finish T2 and T4.
Both Thomas and Cantlay had chances to catch Straka as well but in the end, couldn’t hole the putts.
Still, despite not winning, the American pair were impressed with their surroundings in Philly and called on the PGA Tour to bring a change about to ensure more events take place in similar regions.

Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay want the PGA Tour to make a big change
Speaking to the press after his final round at The Truist, Thomas was asked about playing more tournaments in the Northeast after his experience in Philadelphia.
And for Thomas, it’s a no-brainer for the PGA Tour to add more events in the area.
“It was great. It was a lot of fun. The fans were obviously very into it. It was cool. Man, I don’t know if you could characterise this as full blown Northeast, but it’s enough for me. I just wish we played more tournaments up here,” Thomas told the media.
“The golf courses are great. You get an energy in the crowd and just feels — you know, you have a lot of buzz. I would love to see us play up in the Northeast more often.”
Adding his own weight to the argument, the experienced Cantlay then echoed Thomas’ comments.
“I like the golf in the Northeast. There’s so many good courses. We don’t get up here too often. I hope we can get up here a little more. That would be great,” Cantlay added.
Patrick Cantlay will be desperate to follow Justin Thomas’ lead in 2025
Prior to winning the RBC Heritage a few weeks back, Justin Thomas was three years without a win on the PGA Tour and it was starting to feel worrying for him.
However, he has turned it around and got that win and continued his good form.
Now, it’s time for Patrick Cantlay to follow suit and do his bit to get back to winning ways as well.
Cantlay has to go back to August 2022 and the BMW Championship for his last win on TOUR and for someone so good and with Ryder Cup hopes, it’s not good enough.
Looking at Thomas’ return to winning ways and how Rory McIlroy overcame his Masters demons, Cantlay will now be desperate to get himself back to winning ways.
