It may surprise plenty of golf fans to know that Charley Hull went into the Aramco Team Series event in Riyadh having not won on either the LPGA or the Ladies European Tour for two years.
Charley Hull has had another impressive year. She was Europe’s shining light in the Solheim Cup, taking down Nelly Korda in the Sunday singles at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Hull was this week labelled the ‘surprise star’ of the LPGA this year, ahead of Korda.

And yet, the 28-year-old had gone some time without winning. Her previous win on the Ladies European Tour came in 2021, at the Aramco Team Series – New York, where she beat Korda by one shot.
Justin Rose congratulates Charley Hull after Aramco Team Series – Riyadh win
But that wait for a win is over. Hull went into the final round of the Aramco Team Series – Riyadh trailing by two shots. However, she absolutely flew out of the blocks as overnight leader Pia Babnik toiled. Hull reached the turn in 31 after five birdies.
That allowed Hull to largely coast across the line, with three birdies and two bogeys on the back nine. And by the time Hull holed a short putt on the last, she was three clear and able to celebrate.
Hull has taken to Instagram to celebrate her win, and amongst those to reply was Justin Rose – who teamed up with Hull at the 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational…

Where Hull now sits in the Order of Merit and Race to CME Globe after first win since 2022
The win lifts Hull up to third in the Order of Merit on the Ladies European Tour. Admittedly, she is still some way away from Chiara Tamburlini, but the Swiss – who only joined the tour this year – has played in three times as many events as Hull.
Hull meanwhile, finds herself in 46th on the Race to CME Globe, having finished in the top 10 on four occasions on the LPGA this year.
