It’s fair to say that Justin Rose has been one of the best and most consistent players on the PGA Tour over the past two decades.

It could even be argued that Rose is, in fact, underrated; however, his win at the FedEx St. Jude Championship reminded everyone of just how clutch he is under pressure.

Rose’s victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship was evidence that he is improving with age, and he admitted to taking inspiration from Phil Mickelson’s success after he turned 50.

The 45-year-old was incredibly unlucky not to win The Masters back in April, losing out to Rory McIlroy in a playoff.

However, he got some closure in relation to that painful defeat at TPC Southwind on Sunday.

Rose defeated J.J. Spaun in a playoff to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, and the way that he performed down the stretch was hugely impressive to watch.

He will now be full of belief that he can win many more tournaments on the PGA Tour before the curtain closes on his incredible career.

Justin Rose’s prediction about what would happen at the FedEx St. Jude Championship

Rose started his week in Memphis with a fine round of six-under par 64.

However, his week didn’t actually get off to the best of starts, with an illness preventing him from playing any practice rounds at TPC Southwind.

The now 12-time PGA Tour winner spoke to reporters after his 64 on day one in Memphis.

And Rose made a FedEx St. Jude Championship prediction on Thursday that now looks truly remarkable.

Yeah, obviously delighted with the start, Rose explained.

Felt well today, felt good today. Got a lot of rest yesterday, which was the focus. Must have picked something up traveling over to the States and maybe it took a couple days to manifest, but yeah, Monday night and Tuesday wasn’t really feeling great.

In some ways, it’s kind of a good golf course to not have — even though it’s completely redone this year, I feel like the course is one that you kind of know how to play it really. There’s certain holes you’ve got to play to certain positions.

I felt like I knew how to get around this golf course without having played it. That was good.

I think the greens are new for everybody this year so it’s not like I’ve really suffered on the learning side of things. I think they’re very subtle. The breaks, it’s very hard to learn them at the moment, new greens. I don’t really think there was much of a detriment to not having played much practice rounds this week. I think come Sunday maybe it’s a good thing; less time in the heat.

Rose’s prophecy from Thursday proved to be bang on the money. He certainly looked fresh and full of energy coming down the stretch when he birdied four holes in a row from the 14th hole, and then added two more in the playoff against Spaun.

Justin Rose’s exceptional career PGA Tour record

Rose is in possession of a PGA Tour résumé that will be the envy of 95% of players in the professional game.

In reality, one major win and 12 PGA Tour victories do not actually do him justice.

Here are his career results on the PGA Tour:

Rose is a shining example of consistency, hard work and longevity.

He should be a real inspiration to every other PGA Tour player in their mid-40s.

Rose’s win at the FedEx St. Jude Championship would have been one of the most satisfying triumphs of his career to date.

And the fact that he predicted he would get stronger throughout the week proves that he is very much in tune with his golf game right now.
