Jordan Spieth endured a miserable finish to his 2025 PGA Tour season as he missed the cut for the top 50 in the FedEx Cup.
Spieth couldn’t quite produce when it mattered in the final round at the FedEx St Jude Championship and a final round of 68 was not good enough for him to leapfrog his way into the top 50.
It means the three-time major winner will now effectively pack up for the season.
Spieth will now also face a nervous wait to see if Keegan Bradley selects him as part of his Ryder Cup squad, with the American very much relying on good faith and past achievements to make it now.
Of course, 2025 hasn’t been all bad for Spieth and he did, at times, show some glimpses of form.
However, there were two key turning points in his season and surprisingly for a big-game player like Spieth, they came in the majors.

Jordan Spieth’s major performances cost him FedEx Cup spot
While there were signs of life for Jordan Spieth at The Masters as he managed a top 15 finish, the rest of his major season was very much disappointing.
With FedEx points on offer in those big tournaments and good performances effectively able to seal your place at East Lake, Spieth failed to do the business.
He managed a T23 at the US Open but even that was with a +8 overall score as Oakmont bit back.
However, it was at the PGA Championship where Spieth really hurt his chances. He missed the cut at Quail Hollow, meaning he picked up zero points and effectively, that one result has ruined his FedEx chances.
Couple that with the fact he only managed at T40 at The Open a few weeks back – adding just 20.3 points to his total – and it’s obvious Spieth’s failure in majors has cost him.
Furthermore, his withdrawal at The Travelers, and another missed cut at The Genesis earlier in 2025, mean he has cost himself big time in some of the biggest events on the calendar.
Going into 2026, this is something Spieth has to have in mind if he’s to avoid another finish outside the top 50.
Jordan Spieth’s strokes gained stats for 2025
With Spieth clearly not doing the business in the majors, it goes without saying that his golf game in general over 2025 wasn’t where it needs to be.
Yes, there were signs. A T4 at the WM Open, 4th at the Byron Nelson and a T7 at The Memorial were all solid results.
However, when it comes to the stats to back up his game in any way, Spieth was just nowhere near the level he needs to be at.
While he wasn’t the worst in the strokes gained stats, he was still not top ten for any metric, with his usually reliable putting seeing him down in 60th place for the season.
| Strokes gained stats | Position |
| Approach the green | 53rd |
| Off the tee | 36th |
| Around the green | 26th |
| Putting | 60th |
| Total | 16th |
With major form a problem and the stats hardly showing he’s had the best season, there is so much for Spieth to work on in the off-season.
Hopefully, for the game of golf in general, we see him come roaring back and in contention this time next year.
