Rory McIlroy finally won The Masters after seeing off Justin Rose in a playoff but Jordan Spieth believes his life might have been easier had the course played different.
McIlroy had a four shot lead at one point then missed a four foot putt to win on 18 before taking it to a playoff and beating Rose with a fine wedge shot and putt to win.
However, with McIlroy charging away mid-way through his round, other players were coming into the clubhouse.
One of those was Jordan Spieth. And speaking of McIlroy’s round and potential to win, Spieth actually suggested Augusta National was not giving McIlroy the pin locations he’d prefer.

Jordan Spieth says why Rory McIlroy will have been annoyed in round four of The Masters
Speaking to the media after finishing his own round at two under and three under for the tournament, Spieth commented on McIlroy’s game and suggested things weren’t as Rory wanted.
“Yeah, I think he’s more than deserving of having that honour. He’s obviously in control. As we all know, anything can happen now. He’s just hit it right on 11 so he’s got to navigate that situation and then navigate the 12th and the 13th,” Spieth said.
“If he gets to 14 with a decent lead, with the way he’s driving the ball and the way he’s striking his irons, he should be in pretty good position.
“But the thing is you just saw Rosey I think just went birdie-birdie-birdie on 11, 12, 13, and then 14 and 15 are very birdie-able pins today.
I”t’s almost like if I were Rory I’d wish that the pins were harder and it was playing a little harder at this point because he’s not going to be able to take the foot off the gas, and I believe he knows that.
“If he can escape 11 and 12 with two pars, he should be in pretty good shape.”
What Rory McIlroy said immediately after winning The Masters
The emotion for Rory McIlroy was clear and he was having to hold the tears back when he was being given his green jacket by Scottie Scheffler.
However, speak he did, and McIlroy admitted he felt incredibly proud to finally have the green jacket.
“It feels incredible. This is my 17th time here and I started to wonder if it would ever be my time and the last 10 years coming here with the burden of the grand slam on my shoulders and trying to achieve that. I am sort of wondering what we are all going to talk about going into next year’s Masters.
“But I am honoured and thrilled and so proud to be able to call myself the Masters champion,” McIlroy said.
