Jon Rahm might have teed up for LIV Golf this weekend but that doesn’t take away from him being a Masters champion.
Despite the controversy surrounding his move to LIV, Rahm is very much still regarded as one of the best players in the world across every tour.
The Spanish sensation is the current holder of the green jacket from Augusta and will no doubt head into this year’s tournament as one of the favourites.
And Rahm himself has been speaking about just what it feels like to be labelled a Masters champion.

Jon Rahm shares what being a Masters champion is like
Speaking about being a green jacket winner on the Bryan Bros Golf channel on YouTube, Rahm admitted that it just never gets old being called a Masters champ.
“No, absolutely not, it never gets old. It’s wonderful to hear you know. I never realised how special The Master was going to be. Obviously being Spanish with the three great Spaniards on that list, it’s very very special and having phone calls with Sergio and Oli and having the champions dinner, it’s special. You go to the champions dinner for life, you represent that jacket for life, so yeah, it’s pretty special,” Rahm said.
Only the best get it done
And sometimes, even the very best can’t get it done. All we have to do is look at Rory McIlroy as an example of one of the best players in the world to not hold a green jacket.
Naturally, McIlroy will be looking to put an end to that wait this year but as it stands, he’s still not got what Rahm has.
So, for all the critics of going to LIV and taking the money on offer, Jon Rahm remains among a select field who have won at Augusta.
And in 2024, you wouldn’t put it past him going on to do it again.
