Jon Rahm won’t be playing the weekend in the Dubai Desert Classic after missing the cut and being the biggest name to exit the tournament.

Rahm was one of the favourites going into the tournament and was tipped to challenge Rory McIlroy and more to win the title.

However, Rahm could only card a two over through his two opening rounds to fall short of the cut line.

Whether or not Rahm talking about the current CEO situation with LIV Golf played any part in taking his mind off the task in hand, only he can answer.

But when it comes to coming back to the even and playing next year, Rahm has been clear in his plans.

Jon Rahm responds when asked if he’ll play the Dubai Desert Classic again

Rahm was speaking to the media after his second round saw him exit the tournament and was in an upbeat mood despite him going home early.

And when quizzed on if he’d return to Dubai in 2026, Rahm was adamant he’d be back.

“Oh, yeah, I absolutely love the golf course. Absolutely love the setup,” Rahm said. “There is nothing I could see bad about this tournament this week. Maybe the fairway on 18…it’s just the wrong club.

“Besides that, it’s a fantastic golf course. Fantastic setup. I was telling Adam, you don’t usually see rough that long and thick outside of major championships.

“So I think it shows the test, and you play good golf, good lads are doing well, it’s proper. If the schedule allows, I would like to be here next year and hopefully get some redemption. Because I do believe this is a golf course and a tournament, if I were to play 20 years, I would win. I like it. It seems like the type of golf that I like to play.”

How many cuts Jon Rahm missed on the PGA Tour

Missing the cut is not something the best golfers want to do and when it comes to Jon Rahm, it’s not something he’s accustomed to doing either.

While he might play on the LIV tour now where the chance of missing the cut is zero, his record back on the PGA Tour was very impressive indeed.

In fact, out of 154 events on the PGA Tour Rahm played, he only missed the cut 16 times. That puts Rahm at missing just over 10% of the cuts possible in his PGA career.

That sort of figure puts him ahead of Rory McIlroy, although the Northern Irishman’s stats are still impressive, with just 31 missed cuts (12%) from 257 events played.
