Jon Rahm has shared whether he believes that he will be involved at the 2025 Ryder Cup following the Spaniard’s move to LIV Golf ahead of this season.
Jon Rahm had looked set to have a very good chance of becoming the most successful European in Ryder Cup history, based on his first few experiences of the competition.
The 29-year-old was one of the only positives at Whistling Straits in 2021, claiming more than a third of Europe’s points in the thrashing.
And he followed that with three more points in Rome last year. However, he then threw his Ryder Cup future into doubt shortly after by announcing his move to LIV Golf.
Joining the Saudi-backed tour has seemingly marked the end of the Ryder Cup careers of the likes of Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia.

Brooks Koepka was the only LIV player to feature on either side in Italy last year.
However, those figures are coming towards the end of their careers anyway. So Rahm’s move always threatened to be a watershed moment where the door is opened for LIV players to feature for Team Europe in future.

For now, there is a large question mark over Rahm’s Ryder Cup future. But speaking to the Guardian, the two-time major champion suggested that he is hopeful of being involved in New York next year.
“What do I think? I think I will be there,” he said. “I want to be at Bethpage and I think I’ll be at Bethpage. Hopefully I can qualify so they do not have to pick me.”
LIV’s biggest masterstroke yet
As a Team Europe supporter, you want to see Rahm involved. Luke Donald’s side already look set to have an uphill battle across the pond given how rare an away win has become.
Not having Rahm – or Tyrrell Hatton – in the ranks would be a massive blow.
It is one of the reasons LIV signing Rahm was such a big moment in the sport’s history. It is probably the deal the tour needed to ensure, without question, that they will be at the negotiating table when deciding the game’s future.
In truth, we agree with Rahm and fully expect him to be involved next year.
