While the jury is still out on whether Jon Rahm made a bad decision for his career with moving to LIV Golf, there is no question that the Spaniard has been successful on the breakaway league.
It looked set to be a needle-mover for LIV Golf when they landed Jon Rahm. At the time, he was arguably the best player on the planet and had won The Masters earlier in the year.

Some will point to his mediocre – by his standards – major record over the last two seasons as proof that he made a mistake by leaving the PGA Tour. But Rahm has unquestionably been excellent on LIV.
The 31-year-old has won the individual title in both seasons. However, that did cause a problem for LIV in 2025.

Rahm’s title win was notable as 2025 marked the first time as a professional he had failed to win an individual event in a calendar year.
What made the situation even more bizarre was the fact that Joaquin Niemann won five times. Niemann’s inconsistency meant that Rahm was still able to win the season-long race.
Speaking on Subpar, Rahm was asked about whether he would rather win two events and miss out on the individual title.
He went on to admit that he is keen to see a change in how points are awarded.
“I’ve wrestled with that thought, because I did lose in two playoffs back to back at the end. Little unlucky against Sebastian [Munoz] on that playoff hole, I hit the pin. It’s tough because I’ve played good,” he said.
“I would say winning the individual doesn’t have the same weight that it did last year without having won, especially with Joaquin winning five times. You can make an argument there that maybe he was more deserving. I’m not in charge of the points system.
“I hope so [that they change the points system]. I know I’m consistent, but when somebody wins more than a third of the tournaments – it’s not like we’re playing 40, we’re playing 13 events, if he wins more than a third of them, he should probably run away with it.”

There is a fine line. In fairness to LIV, they did deliver an exciting conclusion to the season, with Niemann and Rahm both in contention to win at the final event.
Had Niemann received more points for his victories, it would have been an underwhelming end to the campaign.

But Rahm was certainly the best player on LIV in 2025. As reported by Data Golf, he was inside the top 10 in all strokes gained categories, while he was second off the tee and around the greens.
Should he continue on his current trajectory, there will come a time when Rahm blows the competition away and wins numerous events in the same season.
