Jon Rahm details biggest challenge he’s faced on LIV which is completely different to the PGA Tour

Jon Rahm has enjoyed a stunning first season with LIV Golf, but things haven’t been so straightforward off-the-course for the Spaniard.

Rahm became one of the highest-paid golfers of all time when he turned his back on the PGA Tour back in December 2023. Yet, despite the riches available on the breakaway venture, the 29-year-old has faced issues.

Rahm has voiced concerns over the 54-hole format, and there has also been talk of the two-time major champion being desperate to return to the PGA Tour. Rumours Greg Norman emphatically shut down ahead of LIV Golf Greenbrier.

Now, as the LIV season nears its conclusion, Rahm has shared what has been the biggest challenge he’s faced over the past eight months.

Speaking midway through last weekend’s event in West Virginia, Rahm was asked to highlight the most significant challenge he’s faced this year.

“The biggest challenge for me was the schedule change, but that’s something you can get used to; it’s not a big deal,” Rahm explained.

“I kind of enjoy being given the schedule,” he added. “These are the tournaments, these are where you play, and that’s it. Instead of having to figure out a schedule throughout the year based on tournaments and what courses I know.”

LIV expects all its players to compete in all the events on the schedule. The PGA Tour, however, allows its elite players to pick the tournaments they wish to participate in.

The 2024 LIV Golf season couldn’t have gone better for Rahm. After accepting a $500 million offer to quit the PGA Tour, the pressure was certainly on the Spaniard.

Norman and the LIV hierarchy will be delighted with how their star signing has performed, regardless of the supposed off-the-course issues.

Rahm doesn’t appear to be regretting his decision to move to LIV, and his game is well-suited to the format and reduced schedule.

Looking ahead to 2025, the 29-year-old will be desperate to improve his major championship performance and genuinely show the golfing world that he’s more than capable of competing against the PGA Tour’s best.
