The Open is just a week away now at Royal Portrush and among the players looking to make an impact, LIV Golf’s top dogs will be in town, including a certain Brooks Koepka.
With the PGA Tour taking all the wins in the majors this season thanks to Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and JJ Spaun, LIV have been left lagging behind.
Bryson DeChambeau has been the main flag bearer for LIV, being in contention both at Augusta and Oakmont before falling away.
However, beyond DeChambeau, a number of top LIV stars like Brooks Koepka, Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm have not really got into things.
Nevertheless, among that group mentioned, Koepka is a five-time major winner and ahead of The Open next week, golf analyst Johnson Wagner has made a bold prediction about the American.

Why Brooks Koepka will definitely be one to watch at The Open
If you’re winning five majors, then you’re doing something right in the game of golf.
For Brooks Koepka, his quintet of wins over in the USA have cemented his legacy as one of the very best modern day golfers.
However, it’s well known that Koepka often comes and goes when it comes to his effort towards playing the game.
But ahead of The Open, Johnson Wagner has suggested there’s absolutely no doubt Koepka will be there somewhere looking to win.
“Brooks Koepka. Ricky Elliott growing up caddying and playing at Royal Portrush. There was a moment in 2019 where brooks got close and whispered sorry I couldn’t win it for you this week,” Wagner said.
“What we saw out of him at the US Open is that we saw that fire get lit again under Brooks Koepka.
“I don’t think there is a player in the game who can go from not caring about golf to winning major championships as quickly as Brooks Koepka can. He is going to factor.”
Brooks Koepka’s record at The Open
This will be the tenth attempt for Brooks Koepka when it comes to winning The Open.
His record overall is pretty inconsistent but he has had just as many good finishes as he has had bad ones.
Koepka’s best Open effort came in 2019 when he finished in T4, but he’s also got two T6’s and a T10 to his name, while he’s only missed the cut twice in his nine attempts so far.
Beyond that, his worst finish was a T64 in 2023 while last year also didn’t go too well, as he finished in T43.
Nevertheless, Koepka remains one of the best players in the game and as Wagner says, it would be no surprise to see him involved at Portrush.
