Joel Dahmen has organised a match with a fan after an interesting social media exchange on X.

Professionals delving into the YouTube and social media space has become normal in recent years. Bryson DeChambeau’s YouTube channel has taken off and several PGA Tour stars have taken part in videos with the likes of Grant Horvat, Peter Finch and Rick Shiels.

Now, Dahmen has taken it to the next level and called out a random fan to take part in a money match in Phoenix on Saturday morning.

The 36-year-old, one of the stars of Netflix’s hit series ‘Full Swing’, took to X on Tuesday evening asking for volunteers to play himself and his partner on Saturday morning.

He wrote: “Looking for a game in Scottdale/Phoenix for this Saturday. Looking to play for some money and against good players. The greens need to be good is all I ask of the course. My partner is a scratch. Need to play around 10am.”

Fan, Corey Knight replied: “I’m down Joel I have a partner we will play you guys.”

Dahmen added: “Where at?” Knight responded: “McDowell Mountain 952am on Sat.”

The PGA Tour star eventually revealed that a game for Saturday morning had been arranged.

“Thanks for everyone reaching out. I’m setup with a game for Saturday,” he wrote.

Joel Dahmen; man of the people

It’s always refreshing to see professionals interact with fans and regular club players.

Knight, who is set to play Dahmen on Satuday, will surely be relishing the chance to play with a PGA Tour star.

It feels like there has been a shift on social media over the past few years. ‘Full Swing’ made players more relatable, but also the likes of DeChambeau regularly posting content on YouTube has perhaps pushed other players into becoming more interactive with fans and other content creators.

Hopefully Dahmen isn’t the last professional to face off against a fan whilst taking a week off PGA Tour duties.
