Joel Dahmen and his caddie – Geno Bonnalie – have split after spending 10 years together.
Dahmen and Bonnalie both shot to fame in the first series of the Netflix documentary ‘Full Swing’.
The 37-year-old PGA Tour star’s incredibly refreshing honesty and openness on his struggles earned him a huge cult following.
Dahmen suffered huge disappointment at the Corales Puntacana Championship back in April.
He bogeyed his final two holes to lose out to Garrick Higgo by a single stroke.
Despite being a PGA Tour player, Dahmen has always been incredibly self-deprecating, and that often caused friction between him and Bonnalie, with his caddie demanding more from him.
Now both player and caddie have gone their separate ways.
Joel Dahmen reveals why he and his caddie Geno Bonnalie have split
Dahmen has been with Bonnalie since his days on the Korn Ferry Tour way back in 2015.
All good things must come to an end, though.

And now Dahmen has revealed the reasoning behind splitting with his long-term caddie and best friend Bonnalie.
He took to his X account and said: “We’re still the best of friends and that will never change. But we both know that a fresh perspective is sometimes needed and it’s been a great run. I couldn’t be more proud of what we have achieved together as guys from a small town in the middle of nowhere. I am going to keep the main focus on the task at hand to end the year and put myself in position to make a run. We are grateful for so much this game has given us. Let’s finish strong.“
Joel Dahmen’s PGA Tour career record
Dahmen has won once on the PGA Tour – at the Corales Puntacana Championship back in 2021.
However, he has gone through numerous struggles throughout his career as well.
Here is how his career record looks:
| Results | Dahmen’s totals |
| Events played | 229 |
| Wins | 1 |
| Top-5s | 10 |
| Top-10s | 26 |
| Missed cuts | 82 |
| Money earned | $13,360,380 |
Perhaps a split with his caddie was needed. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes and a new perspective helps a pro golfer make some progress.
However, let’s hope that Dahmen and Bonnalie remain close friends off the golf course. Who knows, their relationship may now even improve due to the fact that they won’t be mixing with each other in a professional capacity anymore.
