The PGA National played host to the Cognizant Classic this week and once again, the iconic Bear Trap section was a major feature of the week.

Despite the PGA National being criticised in general, the Bear Trap remains one of the best spectacles in golf and a tough old stretch for even the world’s best.

Two par threes and a tricky par four, all involving water and difficult lines into the green mean that players need to hit their very best shots to navigate through.

Naturally, the Bear Trap is going to be a talking point for players and the PGA Tour did their best to gather the thoughts of a number of top players.

However, while the consensus was pretty unanimous in it being a tough three-hole stretch, Joel Dahmen seemed to disagree.

Joel Dahmen’s thoughts on the Bear Trap as PGA Tour players give their verdicts

With the PGA Tour’s media team doing the rounds at the PGA National course, the players were asked to use three words to describe the Bear Trap.

And while most players opted for words like tough, tricky, and even watery, Joel Dahmen went against the grain.

Giving his own response, Dahmen simply responded with a ‘Not that bad’ when asked to give his own thoughts on the iconic stretch.

What other PGA Tour players said about the Bear Trap

While Dahmen’s answer was a bit more tongue-in-cheek, a number of other players agreed on how tough the Bear Trap was.

Min Woo Lee described the stretch as tough, intimidating and fun, while Matt Wallace went with water, tough and exciting.

The Bear Trap has long been a tricky test on the PGA Tour circuit and has caught a number of players out over the years.

Indeed, just this weekend we saw Taylor Montgomery ruin his chances as he carded a woeful quadruple bogey after making a seven on the par three 15th.
